Rethinking Russia, founded in 2015, is the second time ranked in the Global Go To Think Tank Index, which is annually issued by Dr. James McGann and his Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program of the University of Pennsylvania.
Global Go To Think Tank Index is based on the data provided by 7500 international relations experts, journalists and other parties in interest, who analyze the work of 6600 think tanks according to a number of criteria. The recent edition is the eleventh one. It is recognized by the expert community and is used, among other things, as a basis for studying think tank activities all over the world.
In 2017 Index Rethinking Russia is number 65 in Top Transparency and Good Governance Think Tanks all over the world (in 2016 RR was also in Best New Think Tanks category).
The recent Index highlights the increase of both the number of think tanks in the modern world (about 14% growth) and the interest to their activity. At the same time, the number of Russian think tanks has for the first time decreased: if for some years before 122 think tanks were in the Index, in 2017 there are only 103. Nevertheless, Russia is still number 8 in the world in terms of this indicator.
